Kurt Dunkel, Employee Recognition Award Winner 2022
Kurt has been a tireless advocate for mental health and suicide prevention and has had a direct impact on the well-being of Ship students. This is an important role, as the Counseling Center, Ship Cares, and even our faculty and staff have all seen increases in the number of students who are struggling. Kurt implemented the first Fresh Check Day at Ship, bringing together academic classes, First Year Experience students, Athletics, Counseling Services, Student Affairs, and fraternity and sorority life, so that more than 400 students could engage with a vibrant support network on campus. Kurt receives this award in recognition of his enduring commitment to students during these challenging times.
